plakat-konferencja-23-10-15-LTThe European Foundation of Human Rights (EFHR) will hold its “Protection of National Minorities Rights: Five Year Trends” conference on October 23 in Vilnius, Lithuania.

The aim of this conference is to provide an overview of certain issues such as the protection of minority groups in Lithuania as well as to summarize the work of our NGO over the last five years. We will also present our 2014/2015 report and share and discuss opinions on the implementation of the Framework Convention of the Protection of National Minorities by the Council of Europe. Vilnius Mayor Remigijus Šimašius will welcome guests and deliver an opening address speech before the event commences. Confirmed speakers include representatives from the Organization for Security and Co-Operation in Europe (OSCE),  the Office of Equal Opportunities Ombudsman and the European Centre for Minority issues (ECMI) as well as distinguished experts in that field.

The conference is intended for members of governmental and non-governmental institutions whose work is related to the protection of human rights as well as those working within the legal profession and members of the public.

There are a limited number of places. To reserve a seat please get in touch with us by emailing info@efhr.eu or calling us on + (370) 691 50 822. You can also register your interest and reserve a place using our online registration form here.

Our organization, which has been operating in Lithuania since 2010, was set up in response to an increase in the number of human rights abuses, especially where national minority groups in Lithuania are concerned. EFHR offers free legal aid, advice and education in the form of workshops, lectures and visits. We are also committed to monitoring the media and cyberspace for hate speech and promoting the idea of a society free from human rights abuses. For more information visit www.efhr.eu.

The conference will be held in both English and Lithuanian and simultaneous translations will be available.

Event: 9.00am – 13.40 pm, Friday October 23, Vilnius City Municipality, Konstitucijos pr.3, Room 2001, 20th Floor.
