Staff and volunteers from the European Foundation of Human Rights (EFHR) office enjoyed an excursion on Thursday 12th November to Vilnius City Municipality (Vilniaus miesto savivaldybė).

The trip was a great opportunity for EVS volunteers Aneta Maciejewska and Leah Nedahl to see the main hub of Vilnius city administration.

We were treated to a tour of this important building, the headquarters of Vilnius Mayor Remigijus Šimašius. Our guide – who was very helpful and knowledgeable – showed us points of special interest, like the impressive model of Vilnius City centre, the modern Municipality Youth Information Centre and the lobby’s interactive digital board for visitors and city residents.

The tour was very interesting and gave our volunteers a great overview of what kind of work takes place in the municipality. A highlight was the visit to the top floor of the building, which houses a state-of-the-art conference room and has an outdoor area which offers fantastic views of the city!

EFHR staff and volunteers regularly enjoy office field trips. Following on from this visit to the municipality we are planning to go to visit other  interesting places like the Kurier Wileński newspaper offices and printing press, the Seimas, and the Money Museum of the Bank of Lithuania.
