Research of the Polish minority situation in Lithuania.
Ewelina Tylec is a student of the LLM in Human Rights Program at Central European University in Budapest. In 2011 she graduated with a Master’s degree in legal studies from the University of Wrocław (MA thesis: The Role of Custom in Diplomatic Law). Currently, she is working on the project: The issue of legal discrimination. Polish minority in Lithuania under supervision of Professor Gabor Kardos. The project analyzes the situation of the Polish minority in Lithuania and the role of the international minority rights protection systems (particularly: the right to the use of minority language, the right to education in the minority language and the right to participate in the state’s public life).
In the European Foundation of Human Rights in the period between 12-23.03.2012 she is conducting the research on the Polish minority situation in Lithuania. During the stay she will:
- on 20.02.2012 meet students of the University of Białystok branch in Vilnius the and discuss about minority rights in the European Union legal system and
- on 22.03.2012 will give a lecture in the House of Polish Culture entitled: ‘National minority right to the use of the mother tongue in the light of international legal protection system’.
