On 28.10.2014 in the European Foundation of Human Rights (EFHR), there was a meeting with 25 participants of the international human rights project organized by Youth EPICenter.

Participants of the meeting, coming from places as far and wide as Croatia, Latvia, Macedonia, Great Britain and Italy, listened to a lecture titled “EFHR as a leading non-governmental organization that deals with human rights in Lithuania”.

The first part of the presentation was about the mission of the foundation and past and current projects. During the second part of the meeting, the lawyer representing EFHR talked about the situation of national minorities and respecting human rights in Lithuania. He drew attention to the problem of the lack of legal regulations on the situation of national minorities, the spelling of names of national minorities and foreigners living in Lithuania and discriminating actions in the field of education.

The third part of the meeting was connected with the Erasmus + programme. The participants learnt about three key actions of the programme:  “Mobility”, “Cooperation for innovation and the exchange of good practices” and “Support for policy reform”. The first action inspired the most interest. “Mobility” supports: transnational strategic partnerships, co-operation for knowledge between institutions of higher education and entrepreneurs and Internet platforms, for example eTwinning, ePlatform for Adult Learning in Europe (EPALE) and European Youth Portal.

EFHR is happy to have had the chance to present the legal situation in Lithuania and share its experience once again. Last year in March a similar lecture was delivered for German students. We have already written about it.
