Practical Guide How To Protect Your Rights in Lithuania, presented by Oksana Baitala, a volunteer at the EFHR, at the seminar held at the Ukrainian centre
“Just recently arrived in Lithuania? Or have been living here for a couple of years or even longer? Still struggling to find necessary information and don’t know who to contact in case of a breach of individual rights? Or perhaps you have already found yourself in a situation when your rights and freedom were violated and qualified legal aid was needed?”
If your answer to at least one of the question above is affirmative, it means that a practical guide on how to protect your rights in Lithuania is a must to get acquainted with. The handbook covers the possible means of protecting the infringed rights and freedom, and the grounds for receiving free legal aid and/or consultation. You will also find useful information about the state institutions and non-governmental organisations, established and functioning across Lithuania. Those entities provide legal support and protection in case of discrimination; violation of personal rights by government and municipal officials, employers of all types of property, educational facilities and others; safeguard children’s rights; provide humanitarian help, legal and psychological support to vulnerable groups of society, etc. Additionally, the guide points out the grounds for applying to the European Court of Human Rights, located in Strasbourg, France.
Thus, on the 1st of April, 2023, Oksana Baitala, a lawyer with the extensive background in public and private law, and a volunteer at the European Foundation of Human Rights, presented a “Practical Guide How To Protect Your Rights in Lithuania” at the seminar held at the Ukrainian centre. The handbook has been prepared in Ukrainian language and targets Ukrainian national minority residing in Lithuania.
