New intern from Ukraine – Ganna Dudinska
Ganna is a human rights lawyer, a researcher and a civil society activist from Ukraine. Ganna holds LLB from the National University of Kyiv Mohyla Academy and LLM in Human Rights from Central European University.
Originally, Ganna comes from the city of Donetsk, Eastern Ukraine. However, the war forced her to flee and she found herself as an internally displaced person (IDP), as did almost 1,5 million persons from Donbass and Crimea. Ganna says, that “her life and circumstances left her no choice, and the fight for human rights and freedoms was scorched in the cauldron of war upon every fibber of her being”.
Currently, Ganna is working at Canadian-Ukrainian organization in Kyiv, where they aim to ensure that protection needs of the conflict-affected population, including IDPs, are met, and to support both local and national governments in addressing the dramatic consequences of the war and in building social cohesion within communities.
Ganna has a strong interest in forced migration, antidiscrimination law and conflict-related human rights issues. The topic of her LLM thesis is “Internal Displacement as a Global Human Rights Challenge: Looking for Mechanisms and Solutions through the Practices of Ukraine, Colombia and the African Union”.
Besides her work, Ganna’s hobbies are sports and cooking. Spending time with her family&friends and traveling – these are the things which always make her happy.
Ganna is very excited to join the EFHR for a 2-months internship, because she believes that it will be a very useful change of environment and a valuable international experience. She would like to learn more about human rights’ challenges and the work of NGOs/CSOs in Lithuania. She is eager to broaden her knowledge in the field of minority rights and to apply the acquired experience in her work in Ukraine.
