Scholarships for student of Polish descent
The new academic year has begun. The European Foundation of Human Rights (EFHR) wants to inform you about a new initiative from the Wileńszczyzna Foundation – scholarships for students of Polish descent studying in Lithuania.
As the Foundation has declared: “the fundamental objective of the Foundation is to support youth of Polish descent who live in the countries of the former USSR or study in Poland. We try to provide young people with material aid and in-kind contributions and support Polish community organizations conducting educational, scientific and culture activities”.
The Foundation provides two kinds of benefits:
- For those studying in Poland: Scholarships are granted by the Wileńszczyzna Foundation and the National Bank of Poland. It is addressed to students of Polish descent from the countries of the former USSR and students of the Vilnius Branch of the University of Białystok. The scholarships are available for the students of Economics. The amount of the benefit is from 400 up to 1600 ZL per month. This material aid helps students finish their education, take part in numerous conferences, meetings and diverse training sessions and courses in Economics.
During the last five years over 400 students have obtained the scholarships. Registration for the scholarships starts at the beginning of September. For more information please visit www.stypendium.org
- For those studying in Lithuania: Scholarships are financed by the Wileńszczyzna Foundation and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland for students of Polish descent who study in Lithuania. These scholarships can be used to participate in training sessions, workshops, conferences or to buy books. The material aid is intended to help young Poles in Lithuania find employment.
In 2014 100 people have obtained the 800 LTL scholarships. The application window is currently open. Applications should be submitted up until 20.09.2014 – the III recruitment, 20.11.2014 – the IV recruitment.
