DSCF0620On the 5th of June the representatives of the European Foundation of Human Rights held educational events entitled “International Protection of Human Rights” for 32 workers of the Dontuva care facility.

The participants of the meetings were informed not only about the international jurisprudence regarding the disabled people but also about the domestic practice. At the beginning of the trainings, the values protected by the Constitution of the Republic of Lithuania were discussed briefly. In the next part, the experts of the EFHR talked about respecting the rights and freedom of persons with special needs. Besides, the United Nations’ Convention on the rights of persons with disabilities and its application was presented.

The educational events culminated in a discussion. The participants of the events discussed i.a. the most frequent violations done by workers and patients and the possible solutions.

The EFHR would like to thank all the participants and hopes that the information which was communicated will be useful in the daily work. All the people who would like to participate in the educational events held by the EFHR are invited to contact us (szkolenia@efhr.eu).
