Another lecture by EFHR in Vilnius International School

On Tuesday, February 21st in the Vilnius International School Ewelina Baliko and Agnieszka Malinauskaitė – the representatives of the European Foundation of Human Rights (EFHR) delivered a lecture devoted to human rights and hate speech (Human rights in daily life).

At the beginning Agnieszka Malinauskaitė presented briefly the Foundation’s activities – free lawyer’s assistance to anyone who suffered discrimination or witnessed such an event, the possibility of practice and volunteering, the fight against the phenomenon of hate speech. The lecture dealt with a number of important questions, including: what hate speech is, how to recognize it, what kind of legal procedures and penalties can be expected by a person expressing hatred. The discrimination in job offers and privacy protection was also briefly discussed.

Students were asked to recognize hate speech in their daily lives. Then the results of the task were analyzed together. The three most active members were given in gifts by the Foundation.

This is the second visit of EFHR in Vilnius International School. The information about the previous lecture can be found here

The Foundation would like to thank the Vilnius International School and its students for making the event possible. EFHR will continue to hold lectures on hate speech in schools to spread knowledge and tolerance values for future generations.
