Learning History of Lithuanian through virtual reality: EFHR at Telia Nemuziejus

On Friday 12th of October 2018, trainees from the European Foundation of Human Rights (EFHR) and one EVS volunteer from Silas School visited Telia Vilnius History Nemuziejus, where it is possible to learn history of Lithuania and old Vilnius through new age technologies.

The museum, located in the city centre, offers an innovative and original insight into Lithuania’s history and culture.

Firstly, visitors are welcome to watch a short film that concentrates in 15 minutes the most important historical events of Lithuania from its foundation to nowadays. Virtual effects and three-dimensional pictures capture visitors’ attention, from the youngest to the oldest, until the movie finishes.

Furthermore, people are invited to enter to a second room and by wearing special pair of glasses they start to be immersed in a virtual trip to the most fascinated and attractive locations in Lithuania. The virtual reality shows six different scenarios of this country and you can get the chance to visit lakes, forests, sea coast and other veritable treasures of the old Grand Duchy of Lithuania by staying comfortable at the museum.

Finally, EFHR members and EVS volunteer spent pleasant time together at the “Georgian house”restaurant by tasting traditional Georgian cuisine.

Once again, the EFHR has provided its trainee with an opportunity to increase their awareness on historical events of Lithuania and moreover, it offers to them a unique occasion to build social relationship outside the office.
