EFHR Among Participants of ‘Laisvės Piknikas’
On 24th August, the biggest summer festival of ideas “Laisvės piknikas” (English: “Freedom picnic”) will take place for the fourth time. The organisers claim that everyone will find something they like: there will be a place for discussions, entertainment and sports zones, game areas, appearances and presentations of businesses and non-governmental organisations (NGOs), as well as concerts by some of the most popular music bands. Everyone is invited to spend one of the last summer weekends in a meaningful way.
The European Foundation of Human Rights (EFHR) will be participating in the “Freedom Picnic” for the first time, ready to tell everyone about human rights, and volunteering possibilities both in Lithuania and abroad. EFHR will also invite participants to test their knowledge about human rights by participating in an interactive quiz, with the possibility to win prizes!
Throughout the whole day, EFHR lawyers will be providing free legal advice on the topics related to human rights. Those, who are hesitant to approach in person, will have the opportunity to use the sli.do platform to pose their questions – our team will be ready to answer.
The EFHR will present the main areas of its work: the original spelling of personal names, the situation of hate speech and hate crimes in Lithuania, and discriminatory job advertisements.
Youth dreaming of volunteering abroad will be invited to talk with a volunteer from Poland who is currently spending 10 months in Lithuania: she will share her personal experiences, impressions, and advice about volunteering abroad.
Besides the activities proposed by the EFHR, the festival offers possibilities to get to know many delightful personalities, organisations, and projects that enrich our daily and societal lives. Therefore, mark 24th August 2019 in your calendar and don’t forget to visit the EFHR’s tent! You will find us in the NGO area from 10 AM to 6 PM.
See you at the “Laisvės piknikas”!
