EFHR welcomes a new team member

Marta is a Polish-born youth worker, facilitator, and trainer. She moved to Vilnius from Riga, where she initially began to explore life in the Baltic states.

Marta has recently graduated from Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań obtaining a master’s degree in security studies. Additionally, she holds a bachelor’s degree in Finno-Ugric philology. Combining these two fields, Marta has sizeable expertise in the security issues of the Baltic Sea region with a specific focus on the national security strategy of Finland.

Marta’s interest in the region can be attributed to a long-term youth exchange, which allowed her to gain a deep insight into the Finnish culture and language. Knowing the benefits of such programmes first-hand, Marta is an active member of Youth For Understanding (YFU) – an international NGO network dedicated to promoting intercultural education. She is an avid advocate for life-long learning and social responsibility.

Professionally, Marta has a particular interest in the field of human rights, social inclusion, and active citizenship. She supports the view that many of today’s societal issues can be improved through open dialogue and bottom-up initiatives. In her latest dissertation, Marta focused on the importance and impact of education for peace in the socio-cultural dimensions of human security.

Marta will be joining the EFHR for a 10-month project coordinated under the European Solidarity Corps framework. She believes that the Erasmus+ programme offers an excellent opportunity for the European youth to gain valuable experience in the NGO sector. As a young professional, Marta is convinced that EFHR is a great place to launch her career in the field of human rights and democratic governance.

Outside of work, Marta is a proud cat-mom of a 3-year-old Szlomo, who accompanies her on the journey throughout the Baltic states.
