On Wednesday, 28thSeptember the European Foundation of Human Rights forwarded three petitions to the EU structures: European Parliament and the European Commission against:

  1. Processing of personal data revealing ethnic origin;
  2. Education Act, which discriminates ethnic minorities in Lithuania;
  3. Suppression of rights of the Polish minority in Lithuania (in support of the complaint of Mr. Tomasz Snarski) (the content of the petition (can be found)on the website: www.efhr.eu).

During Friday’s rally (23.09) in front of the Parliament of Republic of Lithuania at the booth of the European Foundation of Human Rights one could sign under the afore mentioned petitions, receive information about the activities of the Foundation and its program “Legal Aid Center” (Centrum Pomocy Prawnej). All petitions have been met with a very strong support, which resulted in collection of over 900 signatures. The Foundation was also asked to send the petitions to schools in order to continue collecting signatures under them. In response, the Foundation would like to inform that all the petitions will be sent to educational institutions of national minorities in Lithuania in the near future. This initiative needs unity and your support!

The Foundation has collected almost:

a) 2500 signatures to a petition against processing of personal data revealing ethnic origin;

b) 2900 signatures to a petition against the Education Act which discriminates ethnic minorities in Lithuania;

c) 2500 signatures to a petition against suppression of rights of the polish minority in Lithuania (in support of the complaint of Mr. Tomasz Snarski).

We kindly ask to forward the petitions with collected signatures either  in person or by post to the address of the Foundation:

 Liepkalnio g. 103, LT-02121, Vilnius.

The Foundation stands in defense of human rights. Your rights!
