EFHR lecture in the University of the third age in Vilnius
May 26 this year in the House of Polish Culture (DKP) European Foundation for Human Rights (EFHR) was pleased to provide a great group of Polish lecture at the University of the Third Age in Vilnius under the leadership of Asst. Dr. Richard Kuzma. We were greeted by about 50 person group of students who are interested in the protection of human rights and the fight against discrimination of national minorities.
The lecture was dedicated to the Foundation’s activities, our initiatives, projects and plans for the future. We’ve been talking about the issues of the protection of human rights in Lithuania, the fight against discrimination and how to enforce their rights, which belong to everyone, regardless of age, sex, ethnic origin, or religion. The lecture also had to explain in simple terms how to respond to any form of discrimination, where to seek help, as well as to emphasize that it is not possible to ignore any incidents affecting human rights.
Then the employees are familiar with listeners Foundation and gave free legal consultations at the headquarters of the EFHR, as well as the possibility to change the first name on the last name.
After the lecture the participants asked about the perspective of the adoption of the law on national minorities, the controversial amendments to the law on education, or the possibility of placing the placards with the names of the streets in two languages in the regions populated by a significant percentage of national minorities.
EFHR thank you for your invitation and the opportunity to promote the idea of the protection of human rights among students at the University of the third age. We hope that the study will contribute to the knowledge on human rights and the fight against discrimination.
EFHR encourages all the institutions concerned to contact us in order to carry out similar lectures for interested groups.
