EFHR at the solemn award ceremony of the “Say NO to discrimination” contest

plakatas-konkursas-724x1024On 20th March in Vilnius, the Research and Protection of Fundamental Rights Centre organized an awards ceremony for their contest “Say NO to discrimination”. The contest took place between 15th January and 20th March, and the participants were children aged 5-12 and youths aged 13-19. Their task was to clearly reflect the theme of the competition in the form of drawings, posters, brochures, recordings, etc.

The European Foundation of Human Rights (EFHR) was invited to this award ceremony as a guest. EFHR was pleased to join this important initiative, as it is also the organizer of similar contests for children and young people in Lithuania. Representatives from EFHR shared their experience in matters related to the protection of human rights and the prohibition of discrimination with other guests at the event (including members of Parliament, representatives of the local government of the city of Vilnius, representatives of the Latvian Human Rights Committee, and many others). The youngsters were given some educational materials on human rights.

EFHR is happy that today young people in Lithuania do not remain indifferent to such a sensitive topic as discrimination and we hope that the materials provided will contribute to the development of legal and civic identity among young people and encourage them to actively promote the ideals of tolerance, respect, and peace.

We would also like to inform you that this week the new project for students in grades 9-12 starts. The project title is “We are all alike”. We would like to invite you to follow the project and information on our website!
